Early-round games are hosted at selected campus sites before the tournament moves to regional and national venues later in March.

Hosting the event is a milestone for the University of Mary Washington and provides a major opportunity for local fans to watch postseason college basketball without leaving the region.

This marks one of the few times the Fredericksburg university has hosted NCAA tournament games, highlighting the strength of the Eagles’ program and the support of the local community.

Community and Economic Boost

The tournament is expected to bring students, families, and visiting fans to Fredericksburg, giving local restaurants, hotels, and businesses an economic boost during the busy spring sports season.

Tickets are available at the arena prior to the games, and organizers encourage fans to arrive early as attendance is expected to be strong for the nationally recognized event.

For Fredericksburg sports fans, the tournament offers a chance to see the hometown Eagles compete on the national stage — and potentially advance deeper into the NCAA postseason.
